Matt Ryan is an executive with experience in strategy, marketing, product development and brand management working in the retail food and beverage, and media and entertainment industries. Through 2020, Ryan served as chief marketing officer for the Starbucks Coffee Company where his responsibilities encompassed marketing, brand development, digital experience, data and analytics, food and beverage product, innovation, and research development and engineering. He was a member of the company’s executive leadership team. At Starbucks he previously served as chief strategy officer. Prior to joining Starbucks, Ryan led brand, franchise, and customer relationship management for the Walt Disney Company. He also has extensive experience across many industries working in the advertising industry, where his most recent role was leading strategic planning for Hal Riney and Partners.
Ryan’s background includes deep experience in CRM, digital product development, retail execution, brand planning, corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and long range strategy development. He has served on the environmental councils of Starbucks and Disney, and has deep passion for companies that put their customers, employees, communities and planet at the forefront of their business plans.
Ryan graduated magma cum laude from Harvard, where his academic background focused on biochemistry, history and literature.
