Candice Dickens-Russell oversees environmental sustainability, education, and justice for DoGoodery offering expertise in Education for Sustainable Development to clients for whom education and environmental impact is a priority. As DoGoodery’s JEDI leader, she develops training, organizational plans, and strategic partnerships in Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Candice leads DoGoodery’s teacher engagement and professional development efforts having served as the California Regional Environmental Education Community (CREEC) Coordinator for Los Angeles County for over a decade. During her tenure with CREEC Candice grew the network by 45% and helped broker dozens of strategic partnerships to provide high quality environmental education resources to Los Angeles schools. She has worked with thousands of teachers and schools designing equitable, standards-based environmental education curriculum and programs for state, regional, and local partners. As the former Director of Environmental Education at TreePeople, Candice redesigned the education department generating grants and contracts of over a million dollars annually and managing a high impact staff of fifteen field and on-site educators. She serves on several boards and advisory councils for environmental organizations such as Ten Strands, Friends of the LosAngeles River, the California Environmental Education Foundation, and USC Sea Grant, in addition to having served on the original Blueprint for Environmental Literacy Taskforce. Candice has a strong background in diversity, equity and inclusion and has provided expertise in this area for organizations like Girls Who Code, and NRDC. She majored in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Sustainability & Social Justice at San Francisco State University. Candice was born in Los Angeles and lives in a hidden eco cottage with her husband and young daughter.
