” The struggle itself toward the heights is enough to fill a person’s heart.”
– Albert Camus
Sammy does whatever she does in the name of building community and connections. After graduating with a degree in Cognitive Science and a minor in Art History from Barnard College in New York, she moved back home to sunny LA where she decided to take a break from studying human audial perception and started working at a local pottery studio, Bitter Root Pottery, teaching classes and making mugs for friends. She took over Operations and Program Management for the Bitter Root Pottery chain and sister company Match Stoneware. She also has extensive experience in web development for arts and education. Her interests in pursuing justice and community-oriented work led her to work with the successful campaign Divest Barnard from Fossil Fuels, and upon moving back to LA, to work with the local organizers at Bend the Arc Criminal Justice committee on increasing voter education around care-first city budgets.
As the Programming + Web Coordinator, Sammy will oversee project flow and product management as it intersects with online presence. Whether it be in web building, exploring the human brain, community organizing, or program planning and coordination, Sammy is passionate about integrating big picture ideas with important details in the name of greater equity!
You can find her making a soup at home listening to Donna Summer songs on repeat, or on a long stroll chatting with a friend.
